“Better Bring That Brass Monkey in Tonight!”

Posted by tdepp on January 14, 2009

Old School KELOLAND weatherman Dave “Captain 11” Dedrick used to say that on cold nights like we’re going to have tonight.

I never quite knew what it meant but it always sounded slightly dirty to me.

Wear warm clothes tonight.  And plug the cars in.  And make sure the dog has a warm place.  And don’t forget about that brass monkey in the front yard!

From KELOLAND weathercaster Brian Karstens today and the email I get from them a couple times a day:

Tonight is setting up to be the coldest since February 1996 in Sioux Falls.  We are forecasting -22 with -30 in Aberdeen.  Temperatures will not get above zero in eastern KELOLAND until Friday AM.  Please pack a winter survival kit in your vehicle if you must travel in these conditions.
